Remove the book cover??? Other than that – I’ve got nothin’. I jumped a bit when I saw the picture myself….and it’s been 30 years or so since his books were on my nightstands.
Yep, removing the dust jacket seems the thing to do.
I have to asy I’m not a big Shel fan. How about switching to Lewis Carrol?

Ok…get this…when I was a girl, HE WAS MY NEIGHBOR! He was truly nice. And unscary when I knew him…which was when he was much older than that scary picture.

I’ve long wondered why on earth his publicist okayed that particular photo for the jacket of the book!

nI felt the same way as a kid. Love his stuff though. And it’s so cool to be able to share with my own kiddos.
It’s such a mixed bag, but the good way outweighs the bad (picture).
He really is terrifying. And the poetry, too, sometimes. Who says children need to read The Giving Tree, either?
